Course Format:

This course will be composed primarily of case study analysis.  Students will analyze approximately two case studies per week.  Class discussions will focus on issues raised in case studies, including:  analysis, diagnosis, brainstorming and recommendations.  Through the course of the semester, students will gain exposure to a wide variety of entrepreneurial opportunities, technologies, business models and personalities.

Class Participation:

Students should expect mandatory class participation for IEOR 190.  Class sessions may begin with a "cold call" where one student will be responsible for summarizing the major issues and opportunities in the case study.  Students will be graded on the quality and quantity of their contributions in class.

Class Attendance:

Class attendance is strongly recommended.  Absences for critical and unavoidable reasons should be arranged in advance whenever possible.   Each unauthorized absence will result in 1/2 letter grade penalty (i.e. A- to B+, B+ to B, B to B-).

Example of authorized absence: jury duty

Example of unauthorized absence: job interview

Grading:

100-90 = A, 89-80 = B, 79-70 = C, 69-60 = D, 59 - 0 = F

Students must take IEOR 190A for a letter grade. Pass/Fail is not possible due to the case method format.
